We are seeking volunteer actors for our staged reading of A Midsummer Night's Dream, Shakespeare's classic tale. Individual actors may play multiple characters. The following roles are available:
Theseus – Duke of Athens
Hippolyta – Queen of the Amazons, betrothed to Theseus
Hermia – in love with Lysander
Lysander – in love with Hermia
Demetrius – in love with Hermia (loved by Helena)
Helena – in love with Demetrius
Oberon – King of the Fairies
Titania – Queen of the Fairies
Puck (Robin Goodfellow) – Oberon’s mischievous servant
Nick Bottom – the weaver; plays Pyramus
Peter Quince – the carpenter; director of the play
Francis Flute – the bellows-mender; plays Thisbe
Tom Snout – the tinker; plays Wall
Snug – the joiner; plays Lion
Robin Starveling – the tailor; plays Moonshine
Peaseblossom, Cobweb, Mote & Mustardseed
If you would like to be considered, read through the audition guidelines and submit a tape (or audio clip) of yourself performing a one-minute classical monologue, along with your headshot and resume, to felix@lamplighttheater.co. (If you have auditioned for us recently, please feel free to re-submit the same material).
This show will rehearse in the evenings during the last two weeks of November. Please note any potential conflicts when you submit your audition — finalized rehearsal schedule will be announced following the cast list, and is dependent on actor availability. Auditions are due on November 20th at 10:00 PM.
We will rehearse at Texas Woman's University and perform at Harvest House on Sunday, November 30th at 8:30PM. Actors must be 18 or older to work with us — please note that patrons must be 21+ to attend the show at Harvest House.
